The boxes hold about 20 lbs of peaches. The Hales are a very large peach and  are usually the last of our peaches for the peach season. They are considered a "free stone" or "cling free" peach. This peach is a little lighter yellow with less reddish/pinkish color, even when ripe. These peaches are very sweet. We do not have as many Hale peach trees, not for any apparent reason. This peach is good for: eating, baking with, freezing, canning (but they are very large for the jars), drying, etc. Like all of our peaches, these need to be laid out flat in a cool place (or refrigerated is best) with nothing on top of them. If they bruise, just cut around the bruise and enjoy the fruit. Some peaches in the box will be "greener" than others, but all will be ready to eat shortly after you purchase your box. We pick our peaches once the sugar is in and the peaches are ripe. Some will be ready to eat immediately. If you refrigerate them, eat the ripest ones first. We try to pull from our fridge and set a few on the counter so we always have peaches ready to eat daily.
